Description:
This unit provides an introduction to Motivational Interviewing (MI), an evidence-based approach widely used in health and human services. MI is a person-centered, goal-oriented, guiding method of communication to help enhance motivation to change. Based on the 2nd edition of Motivational Interviewing (2002), this unit describes the spirit, core skills, and strategies of MI. It also provides resources and suggestions for ways to continue learning this approach.
