About this course

A strong understanding and underpinning of equity is crucial in human service fields for service delivery, client retention, staff retention, and overall organizational health. This foundational equity course is for Continuum of Care (CoC) members, housing providers, homeless and housing service providers, community support services, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC), and Public Housing Authorities (PHA) who are beginning to build foundational knowledge on equity from an anti-racist lens.  

Participants in the course will learn grounding concepts, frameworks, and language in equity, centered on racial equity. We will cover topics including equity, racial equity, intersectionality, white supremacy culture, power, and cultural humility. We will also touch on the history of racism in human services. Throughout the course participants will begin the process of self-introspection on how they participate in systems and how they can be an agent and champion for equity. Participants will leave the course with a base understanding of how equity, racial equity, and anti-racism impact service delivery and organizational culture.   

Learning Objectives:

As a result of completing this course successfully, participants will be able to:

Meet the Faculty:

Lisa Bahadosingh, MS, LPC, has over 15 years of experience addressing the traumas associated with systemic racism within communities that have been marginalized. She engages communities and Continuums of Care in developing and delivering strategies that advance racial equity and lead to sustainable change. She is committed to advancing racial equity and passionate about continual learning and authentic collaboration with those who are most impacted by homelessness.  In the earlier half of her career, Lisa provided clinical services, designed therapeutic programs, and managed continued quality improvement processes. She led several initiatives in Connecticut that resulted in a regional coordinated entry system, improved the integration of healthcare and housing, and expanded effective interventions such as Critical Time Intervention and patient navigation paired with supportive housing. As part of that work, she facilitated partnerships between public housing authorities, community providers, and municipalities which significantly advanced Continuum of Care efforts to end chronic homelessness. In her work to end youth homelessness, Lisa is a strong advocate for identifying and addressing LGBTQ+ and racial disparities throughout the system and within her organization. Lisa received a Master's of Science in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor.  

Monique Price-Taylor, MS, is a strategic innovator with over fifteen years of experience in racial equity, supportive housing and systems transformation, community engagement, capacity building and training and technical assistance.  In her former role as Program Manager for the New England Region with the Corporation for Supportive Housing, Monique managed a diverse portfolio of  training and technical assistance clients for supportive housing providers. She was instrumental in advancing racially equitable solutions through operationalizing the Connecticut Race Equity Framework for Housing and Homelessness stakeholders. She was recently elected to serve as one of the co-chairs for the Connecticut Balance of State continuum of care. Monique has devoted most of her career to empowering the lives of young people in Connecticut. She has served as a consultant with the Obama Foundation's Hartford Community Leadership Corps program. As a servant leader, she currently serves on the CT Race Equity Council for Leadership Greater Hartford and is a former board member of Epsilon Omicron Omega Foundation for Excellence where she served three years as the financial secretary.  Monique received a Master’s degree in Counseling with a specialization in student development in higher education from Central Connecticut State University and a Bachelor's degree in communication from Eastern Connecticut State University. She lives by the motto “Maximizing your minutes, by optimizing your gifts.”

Participants may earn a Certificate of Course Completion* by:

  1. Attending all five, live webcasts (or watching the entire recording of each live session)
  2. Completing all required learning activities
  3. Scoring 80% or higher on each weekly quiz
  4. Completing the course evaluation form and the certificate request form

7.5 hours of continuing education credit will be awarded upon completion of this course through ASWB and NAADAC. 7.5 hours of continuing education credit will be awarded upon completion of this course through NBCC. Certificates will be emailed directly to participants roughly two weeks after the completion of the final webcast.

In order to fully complete this course and receive a continuing education certificate from one of the following boards, you must pass each of the five weekly quizzes with an 80% or higher (you will have unlimited retests) along with the final evaluation. The required posttest questions will be at the end of each week's section and the required evaluation will be provided at the completion of the course. Upon successful completion of this course, you can request a certificate using the certificate request form posted with the evaluation and on your learning page. C4 Innovations will then review your course completion and email you a certificate within 2-3 weeks in PDF format. If you are social worker, you will need to write in your license number in the certificate request form for us to be able to include it in your certificate.
