About this option

You can submit a recorded real conversation or structured role play for review. A coder will listen and evaluate a maximum of 20 minute segment to provide you feedback along a variety of Motivational Interviewing (MI) dimensions. Twenty (20) minute maximum work samples are considered a gold standard in coding and provide an ample opportunity to evaluate the full range of MI skills and strategies. For recordings longer than 20 minutes, you may ask that the coder focus on a particular segment or instruct the coder to select a randomly identified segment. Generally and without other instructions, the coder will listen to the first eight (8) minutes and the last twelve (12) minutes of a recording to evaluate the quality of engaging as well as emerging change talk and diminishing sustain talk. If you wish, the coder can generate a transcript of the coded segment.

Coders will then utilize either or both of the most established coding tools for supplying written feedback, applying the current versions of the Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity (MITI) and the Motivational Interviewing Competency Assessment (MICA) tools. The MITI is more focused on identifying behavioral utterances where the MICA focuses on the practitioner's use of MI intentions and strategies within the conversation flow.

*Special pricing available for groups, organizations, and clinical and research projects.
